Intended to change both rear shock absorbers this afternoon on the Connie. All went well until the Allen key in the shock absorber rod broke the threaded end of the spindle getting the nut undone. Guessed there would be a problem. Had to clamp the spindle in the vice before I could get the nut undone. Then because of the rust on the top section of the fittings, I had to resort to brute force to get the top fittings off the spindle. Eventually managed to prevail over adversity and fitted the new rear shocker.Took it for a ride round and certainly seems better. Tomorrow will do th other one weather permitting.

not that 75/ZT ish
Put the CDTi in for MOT this morning, got the days wrong so been driving wifeys Zr105 into work for a couple of days .
As usual starts on the button. But heading hanging down, washer arm works but flops about, wiper blades don't do much, was told charge light keeps coming on ? so order new alternator , but not come on while I'm driving. Gear stick is a bit floppy , are there bushes we can change ? Car full of womens junk , i.e shopping n stuff ! Seems to steer wierd , very tram liney on bumpy ,but ok on smooth roads Heater knob comes off in your hand and temps won't adjust. Nice if she'd mention this sometime , looks like a few things to for muggins to do now on top of the paintwork list. Chris

There's a mod you can purchase from Dark Ice Designs that replaces the bush with a spherical bearing. It was a good chunk of a days work for me on a driveway with ramps and stands, probably quicker if you are handy mechanically - if I can do it, anyone can. https://darkicedesigns.com/products/...-fix-f-ibf-001 Can't help with the womens junk, but with regards to steering issue, probably worth getting a proper 4 wheel laser alignment done at your local garage. It's worked a treat for me in the past in curing erratic steering feel. Not sure on heater knob, can usually get used replacements on ebay for not much coinage, if the knob is knackered. Quote:
Ms. Gigagator always informs me if anything is amiss, to the point where a stone flying up into the wheel arch while she is driving is worthy of my investigation. |

Changed my 12 - 5 volt dashcam power supply and now have good radio reception. I used this one if anyone else has the same problem (unplug your 12 - 5 volt supply to test).

Yes. Managed to get the other rear shock absorber changed today. Difference two new shockers make on these roads of ours.

Had the back seat cushion out to free up a stuck middle seat belt.
Replaced the sun roof switch and gave Mrs Fax a lesson on how to tilt and slide. |

Cleared the rubbish out of the garage and took it to the tip. Then popped into the go go juice station and gave the Bear a drink. That should last me a couple of da............weeks.

Restored the headlamp lenses to what they should be using a T-Cut kit and some elbow grease. The last MOT advisory described them as poor.

Thanks to the shonky weather the only thing I accomplished today was to drink copious amounts of tea, while willing the the rain to stop so I could carry on with the suspension strip down.
It didn't
