Default Paint in engine bay

Hi guys,

I have a 2003 Club in Starlight Silver. In tidying up the engine bay, i've found out the paint comes off with enamel thinners, around the strut tower tops, down to a gold colour - the e-coat I assume? Were these vehicles not painted with 2K everywhere? The bonnet seems to be 2K but the engine bay appears like base colour with no clearcoat?

Only the Monogram cars were fully painted by hand, all others were as you’ve found barely covered the metal. Check your inside boot as it’ll be the same hence why I painted inside mine. All manufacturers have done this for years, presumably to save money
