Default exhaust rattle

Had a new cat fitted and now on startup theres a bad vibration then it settles down, also when going over a bump it sounds like exhaust is making contact somewere and on tickover it I can hear it rattling sometimes, had a look under the car and it looks like the rubber hangers near the cat that they have used are a fraction long and are allowing the exhaust to make contact with the 2 metal plate things (technical term) that pass under the exhaust.Anyone know the part number for the correct rubber rings ....I`d rather sort it myself than take it back to the numptys that fitted it.

When i had my stainless fitted i was getting a similar noise i took it back to the
fitters and it turned out that the middle section was to high and was knocking
against the heat shield

I`ll have a look tomoz, hows the heat shield attached, also the exhaust seems to be resting on the two metal plates that pass under the exhaust is this correct.

Your exhaust should be suspended from the rubbers and be in contact
with nothing else

Your heat shield is fastened in place with screws if any have broken through
the shield just use some washers

Mine is resting on the bars going across as in the pic (that I nicked LOL) I take it this is wrong.Think the ring they used are letting it hang too low

That will be your problem Michael

When i took mine back they had to take my full exhaust off and alter
the bend in the pipe where it connects to the down pipes.
Yours as you have mentioned looks like they will have to change the rubbers

Does yours rattle when you accelerate in the low gears

Hi In my opinion the answer is 100% no the exhaust should not touch any part of the under body so you may have the wrong rubber hangers to long , Arctic
