Default Yellow powerflex rear engine mount vibration cure

I recently fitted a new yellow powerflex rear engine mount with catastophic vibration issues (mainly on tickover) I couldn't find an oem part in stock so decided to take matters into my own hands. I removed the rear mounting unit and drilled 3 12mm holes( front and back of the bush) to allow more movement forewards and backwards. Hey presto all is well. sorry i didn't take any photos. p.s it's made out of tough stuff

Hi Dave
I can only presume that you fitted a petrol yellow powerflex mount to your diesel car as the powerflex diesel mount already as the adaption in place to counter act the vibration, also it is best to use the original metal/nylon centre out of the old mount.

Thanks Artic. Yes i did fit the petrol yellow one, but used the origional body. I ordered the part off the internet, who claimed it was the right one for my cdt. Luckily my fix did the job but, i'll pay more attention next time i order off line. Thanks again for your time

I now feel guilty I have still got a couple of OEM ones on the shelf though it was eight at the turn of the year. My local Garage keeps coming to me for them for cars requiring them passing through his workshop.
I encourage them to return the old units for refurbishment.
I burn out the damaged bushes and glass bead blast the aluminium stabiliser. I usually fit black competition polly bushes. However I also fit the standard Road use poly bush.
I also do the same with front bottom wishbone rear mounts.
Though I did get caught out by one company offering new polly bushes for these they were a reddish orange colour. Foolishly I bought five sets of these bushes after pressing the bushes into the first four prepared mounts had to use my 5 tonne press to fit the single piece bushes into the mounts. Only after doing this did I realise that the centre diameter of the bush was too small to fit the bottom arm. Whoops!!!
I don’t have any polly bushed bottom engine mounts in stock but do have a couple of OEM ones and one waiting for me to refurbish
Mibby get around to it in October. The old body is rebelling more than usual.
