Default Putting username in thread titles - why?

Why do some users write their username for their thread title? Surely they know this would be unhelpful and that other people don't do this?

Bit of a trivial question, I know, but it makes so little sense to me that I just really want to know: why do people do it?

In my experience it tends to be new members on their first post as they aren't quite sure how the forum system works, and by putting their own username, they can spot it later on when they look for replies.

I wish users would put as much relevant info in the title as poss.
Then it's easier to search on later.

Title with HELP !! in is as much use as a chocolate Teapot

That is very true

I also like to see proper first names in the sig block though, just to save me guessing as to who Jim might be when someone writes something like 'Thanks Jim!'. It just saves me time wading through the usernames who have replied and trying to work out which one might be Jim..

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
