Play in N/S rack
As per the title , I have found some play in the steering rack whilst checking for play whilst rocking the wheel from side to side , this however disappears when the engine is started ! I'm toying with the thought of getting a replacement inner track rod from DMGRS but before I do , has anyone had this issue and did replacing the track rod sort it ?
Thanks Peter. |

Obviously will feel the play by jacking the car up and rocking the front wheel at 3 and 9 o' clock I have changed out one or two inner tie rod ends over the years with success Last edited by TourerSteve; 25th September 2021 at 18:37.. |

Have you tried rocking the other wheel ??---Could be, with the engine running, all the slack goes to one side.---

Not actually tried running the engine while checking the play so can't answer that one . Have you had somebody hold the steering wheel while you have checked for play ? May be worth further investigation by dropping the track rod end to check the looseness of the inner tie rod joint |

I think I’ll get the spanner’s out later today and check if the arm feels loose when I disconnect the track rod end.
