Default Clicking and whining noise...

Hi,
I've got 2 questions, this is 1 of them:
When revving the engine it now makes a high whining noise. And I can't pinpoint it by listering.

What did happen: I needed to replace the steering pump because the old one failed. I had to remove the belt, tensioner and replaced it with a second hand pump (which comes from a seller I know well, he says it was fine when he removed it).
I put the belt and tensioner back and bleed the system with new oil.

It took a fair bit of effort to get the fluid to remain stable, but after about 20 or 30 turns (full lock) the fluid remained level and the power steering seemed to work normally again.
However, now it makes a weird whining noise.

I hope the video explains it a bit. I fail to pinpoint it by ear.

This is the second one:

Since a while (before I replaced the steering pump) the engine makes a tapping sound. More then it used to do in the past.
I have already checked all the fluids, and just to be sure I replaced the engine oil. But the tapping noise hasn't changed. In fact, it seems to be getting worse.

I don't fully understand what might be causing it. At first, I thought it was the small cilinder next to the battery box (first thing to see in the video), but if I unplug it, the engine revs up and the sound (tapping) doesn't change much.
But if I where to try to pinpoint it by ear, I always get drawn towards that small thing next to the battery box. (i might be completely wrong though).

Tracing sounds can be a pain, a few things that may help isolate it:

1) A long screwdriver, piece of wood of a metal rod, press it on to the areas the sound then rest your ear on the top.

2) A mechanics stethoscope, they are quite cheap.

3) A piece of say flexible rubber fuel or small bore heater hose, put one end in your ear then move the open end around where you suspect the nose is coming from

Take great care though when you are near moving belts or pulleys.

If the noise wasn't there before, the chance it is to do with the work done in changing the pump, it does sound like it's from a rotating component though, so tensioner, pump, belt etc.

The second noise sounds a bit tappety, with the engine cover off do the screwdriver bit on the rockerbx cover, actually there appear to be two different noises, the rapid tapping noise at the beginning of the video and the slower duller noise at the other side, which one do you refer to ?

First challenge is to listen to the pulley or the tensioner. Because both move when making noise, so I can't put anything on it while listening.

However, first thing that pops into my head: could I have put the belt on backwards? Some articles (from various cars) say that these belts don't have a direction. So it wouldn't matter...?
I wouldn't know how I could've messed up with the tensioner when I only moved it back a bit to get the belt off.

One course of action you could consider Vinnie is to take off the belt again and run the engine to verify that the power steering system is responsible. Then turn the tensioner pulley by hand to assess the condition of its bearings (how many miles has the engine done?). After that there's only one thing left; the second-hand pump you've just fitted.

i hope this helps.

I thought of that, but then I thought it would be stupid to start an engine without the belt. I was afraid I'd blow things up haha.

Nonetheless, its probably the best way to see if that is the problem. Other possibiliet I've heard (for the whining noise) is the pully, which would be a bit more work to replace.

Regarding the clicking... I haven't been able to pinpoint it yet.
