Engine loom mount to oil pump ?
Morning all,
Slowly bolting everything back together and cam across this. Part of the engine loom which comes around underneath the belts (for the oil sensors and alternator connection) has two metal plates attached that look to mount to the oil pump housing. Thing is, hard to see, but they aren't threaded. Am I missing something here ? Are they supposed to be threaded or was there some kind of plastic push in clip used? It's been so long since I took it all out I can't remember. This is what i'm referring to (K18) Anyone ? |

Two bolts secure the engine harness to the oil pump. They go through the oil pump into the end face of the engine block.

interesting, so it's correct to not be threaded there and instead on the block.
don't happen to know what thread size it is, as m6 doesn't seem to get through the oil pump and m5 (although not long) seem way too small. ta Geraint |

I thought they were M6 but it must be a couple of years since I took an oil pump off a k series. I definitely remember having to remove the harness which was held on by two bolts. Could be M5 I suppose.

worked out it wasn't the two holes i'd highlighted at all, they don't line up to the block but were perfect for the metal tags in the wiring loom.
Took out the two adjacent ones which do bolt through pump into block and hey-ho, all done. No idea why they had the two others there. would of made more sense to me to use them as you'd fit and torque up the pump beforehand in most cases. Anyway, tis done now Thanks all G |
