Normal crank problems are the bearings wearing / breaking up. This usually causes rattles, but not heard of a sticky spot.

Of course there have been tales recently of snapped crankshafts. That could give some real nasties!

If you really are getting rid, you might want to add your location.

has the starter been removed ?

could be something jamming the ring-gear on the flywheel
