Default how easy to fit a stereo

Hi as the title suggests. How is easy is it to fit a new stereo and cd changer. My zt had a glove box cd changer and still has the cable in there. I know nothing about electrics is it just a question of buying the connectors to keep the steering wheel controls working, then just plugging bits in. Are the cd changer leads universal.
thanks

If you have the Harmony unit, an adapter lead is needed to convert the BMW connector to ISO Connector, the other single DIN units already have ISO connectors.
Adapter leads are available for steering wheel controls, if you have a Kenwood unit with infra-red controls, and replace it with another infra-red Kenwood unit, adapters are not needed.

Don't know much about CD changers I'm afraid.
