Not a silly question, 'cause my head unit arrived without steering wheel set up option in the settings screen. I asket the chinese seller to have this option and last week he sent me a file (NWDSettings.exe) to fix it.
Today I want to to check whether the steering wheel controls impulse arrives to Blue/Orange-Blue/Purple wires (I must go to a radio engineer)
I will let you know

Here is a thread I started on .org years ago that contains information on the steering controls: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=138395

Yep I understood that but the OP did ask what the eyebrow was. Also I am sure I saw in his drawing something referring to IF but I can't see that now.

I just wanted to clarify that's all.

Is the White steering interface box worth much?
I've just removed mine as it was in the way of the double din Alpine unit I've just fitted and won't connect to it. I'm planning on putting both it and my hi line system on to EBay and would like to know what I can hope to get for it as it will help pay for some of the gear I've bought. Cheers.

I put my entire set of Hi-line bits in the for sale section of the forum, check in there to see what I got for them. The old analogue TV unit and the head unit/ display (AKA board monitor) seem to have not generated much interest, but everything else sold.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

What about the "steering key 2" wire, do I just leave it alone and not wire it?

The steering key 2 is not used on mine. I just taped it up out of the way.

All my pictures and relevant info is here... Click Me I emphasise that this was my experience with my unit. Since I bought it Sean has released another unit which may have different cables etc.

Hi, no good news: the technician has raised the white flag
He tried all connections (Green to Blue/Purple, Green to Blue/Orange, or with others wires of little black connector) but the only result was that the volume would rise out of control
We tested that the wires of the small black connector do not carry impulses and the green wire coming from the head unit carry a current of 5Volts
Finally, we need someone who has passed from Hiline to new head unit to know exactly the connections he made for Steering Wheel Controls
I hope someone did it successfully

You need to get back to the 2 wires coming from the steering controls.

The steering controls did not change over the lifetime of the car. There are 5 switches on the LHS of the steering wheel and 2 wires in the dash radio loom. The switches work in a very simple fashion i.e. you press a button and the resistance changes across the 2 wires.

Here is a thread I started on .org years ago that contains information on the steering controls: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=138395

Some cars had adaptors that did different things i.e. infra-red, resistance changer etc but if you look closely enough you will find those 2 wires that are directly connected to the switches. These 2 wires should obviously be connected to the 2 wires on the headunit.
