That's to be commended, it's what I suggested the OP did, and it's exactly what I did with my sons. The youngest passed his test two days after his 17th birthday. He could rebuild an engine at 15.
i where sitting on my dads lap in a rover 25 2004 plate at 3 and he would press the pedals and i would steer and at 13 rebuild a car

You certainly have an impressive tally of cars young man, when I was 14 the only cars I had were made by Dinky and Corgi and no motorbikes.
