It's turned into one o those sweaty muggy days again here Just been out to pick up some new meds from the pharmacy & was told to sign up for flu jabs beginning Oct 1st
Prostate cancer update. Got my appointments for the radio therapy treatments starting in November at Christies at the Oldham general hospital I was told it would be Salford Royal hospital initially. It's going to be for twenty straight days they're going to target the prostate. Doubt I'll get someone to drive me over there for that length of time, My missus wont go on the motorways & you're not supposed to drive after each treatment . I've got an appointment for a Flow test & bladder scan plus keeping a diary on what times of day or night I pee & volume. Also had another appointment for a CT Thorax scan, Not sure what that is all about although the oncology consultant said something about my chest being monitored as with these hormones replacing all my testosterone I might grow Moobs or Chippy t1ts as they're called here Deep joy.

Anyone who has smoked should have a CT chest scan which is part of a national screening programme. Did you smoke/still smoke? I have been on hormone capsules for the past 6 months to shrink the size of the prostate gland and in that time I had 3 flow tests. The only side effect from the hormone I had was more hair growing on top of my head and more Alpha male qualities, my feet have gone from size 10 and a half to size 12. Of course we are all different and you might not get the dreaded man boobs, something I have escaped from. When my younger brother had the radiation treatment for his prostate cancer, he had 35 sessions each lasting 15-20 minutes. I was in the country to take him to his appointments. The only side effect he had after each treatment in the evenings was tiredness, resolved by going to bed early. His latest treatment is costing the NHS nearly £3,000 for 112 tablets. 11 years on from the first diagnosis, he is battling on. The new treatment is designated for patients with prostate cancer which has spread and it’s to extend his life. |

Afternoon all.
It's been a mixed bag today with some lovely warm and dry spells interspaced with downpours. Managed to pretty much get away with Quizzie's walk in the warm, dry bits . We've found out why we couldn't get my friend's brake bolts out - some idiot has put them in with.....RED Loctite. . Off to the Silverstone Classic tomorrow morning. It's been a long time since I was marshalling there pretty much every other weekend. Looking forward to it and to seeing again those cars I saw when they were brand new and at the cutting edge of motorsport. Take care everyone. |

Hi Phil, I used to smoke but haven't had a fag since 1990. I forget to mention they did find scaring on my lungs when I had those scans, She said it was nothing really to worry about though. I need to ask them when I go if it will be OK to drive myself if they say No then I'll have to arrange patient transport with them. Blimey! 35 sessions! I thought 20 would be long enough.

Afternoon all, it's nice and. quite warm outside.
I have and had a bad day today, mum made the tears again. I suppose it's because one of my doctor who called over a month ago, that I was expecting my "new head" that will be coming this year. Who knows when it just wish everything would start making hurry up . I.could start about making a see start working and I was still able to start driving again.
