That was not my point, BUT everyone is entitled to an opinion, even if we may disagree with it.

When you look at the sequence of events, a surprising precedent may have been set. She spoke to her friend by phone who happens to be a boss of ITV (the Chair, I think).

Claiming abuse, she impressed on her friend that she was upset by Morgan’s behaviour and his criticism and refusal to believe her ‘mental health’ was affected. That latest buzzword resonates in such circles.

The ‘chair’ in turn spoke to the editor of the program who instigated an enquiry. That resulted in Morgan eventually being fired. Therefore cancelled.

So, a second stream actor who just happened to be a member of the royal family interfered in public TV and, oops, purely by accident, secured the dismissal of a critic because he said something she didn’t like.

It smacks of a hissy fit bringing the family into disrepute when they are scrupulously careful to avoid any interference into such things. This on the head of the Commonwealth. The damage that could result in causing is massive and grossly out of order.

The implication that these things happen goes to the very roots of our monarchy and everything we are supposed to stand for. Shameful.

I started lockdown watching the news from both sides ( 1 & 3 ) but am now not watching either. I have a quick flick of the headlines and get on with my life. As for Mr M, I wouldn't want to be around him at all. I much prefer my own company and peace/quiet! ........................ and breathe!

You have to be paid for an opinion to be able to give one? How is that 'free speech'?????

Exactly what coolguy said.

So is this you having changed your mind? Or is it realising how ridiculous the first post quoted is? Seemingly you change your mind depending on the wind of opinion. Are you Piers Morgan?

This will now be a subject of my next e-mail to the MP representing my area. However, I know the response but unless you can get one of the fringe parties to put the item into their manifesto the "elite" will continue to do whatever is "popular".

Neither. My point was that Piers Morgan was employed to present and comment on the news - Alex Beresford is employed as a weather presenter - nothing more. He is not a Chat Show host.

And to complete your statement as per your initial post, not entitled to voice an opinion? 'But FREE SPEECH' you said.

Which is it? you seem incredibly confused.

Not confused at all. Morgan is paid to present AND comment - Beresford is entitled to his opinion, and he can voice it in most places, but he is paid to read the weather, and nothing more ON THAT PROGRAMME.

Well Mr Morgan is no longer paid to air his opinion 'ON THAT PROGRAMME' .
Mr Beresford is paid.

Is it not more relevant (probably said elsewhere) that Beresford is currently paid on the basis of his meteorology knowledge and might be trying out as a possible star, and P. Morgan was employed with the full expectation of being controversial and hopefully revenue producing?

Morgan's record is hardly a secret and, given the secret involvement of one other person, has he been a victim of his own frankness? The loss of £200m million in share value sort of says it all. So free is only free if nobody else minds very much.

If you have to load the definition of Free Speech to make it acceptable to the collective masses of social media mediocrity, free is exactly what it 'aint.

Given the various characters in this pantomime I'm pretty sure who the slipper doesn't fit, and very sure who will not be going to the ball. I'm not saying the two ITV bosses who took the decision to discipline Morgan are less than courageous but.... And of course the handsome prince....oh, just a minute...
