Default Rough engine note whilst Idle

My 2.5 v6 has started to sound rough whilst the engine is idle, happened overnight about a week ago, no engine warning lights until this morning. error code P0444 which I believe to be a Purge valve fault.

Does that cause the engine to misfire from cold? as I didn't think the purge valve kicked in until the engine was warm.

Anyway (off topic) back in August my exhaust silencer and section of pipe fell off whilst on holiday so the only option I had was to go to Kwik Fit (out of options whilst camping), they ordered in a part and fitted it the next day and the car was driving lovely and was very silent compared to the old one. Done about 400 miles since.

Just wondering if there could be a link between the two, and kwik fit didn't fit the right part as when I search the part number on the receipt I can find no information about it.

Exhaust sounds ok underneath and at the rear of the car but the inside and with the bonnet open the car just doesn't sound right.

Try unplugging the purge valve and see if that makes any difference.
