Make sure you get the 1.8 version - the V6 /diesel ones are different .

As the OP does report a non flickering rev counter on cranking would a fuel filter issue lead to this - to me it suggests the crank sensor is not working.

I know the OP has fitted a new sensor so there is small chance it is duff - i had a BMW Siemens sensor fitted 18 months ago and it it failed within 3 weeks and that is considered the premium sensor for our cars.

If the crank sensor has been replaced, then it's worth checking the loom to said sensor where it runs down behind the back of the turbo.

I've seen a few pics on social media of breaks there, and even my non-turbo one is starting to look crusty in the same spot.

A mate of mine with a ZT-T 1.8T is having similar issues. He found the wiring from the crank sensor has disintegrated. It's been repaired but the car still isn't running. The car's been hooked up to TOAF and the sensor's showing an odd reading so he has further work to do. I'm following this thread with interest in case it develops an answer for his issue.

It the turbo has cooked the loom and the crankshaft sensor wires have touched, the ecu will be fried I'm afraid.
