Couldn't get the rear wheels off..
A routine maintenance job of changing the rear discs and pads turned out to be a big job..
The wheels were refurbed a couple of years ago and the extra build up of powder coat and corrosion had the wheels literally stuck solid to the hub. A big thanks to Harry M1BYT for sorting the situation with a great plan to remove these wheels. We tried kicking them off, hitting with a wood drift and hammer with no luck. Harry placed a couple of short lengths of railway sleepers against the wheels with the car off the ground and placed a scissor jack between the wood and litteraly wound the jack to pop the wheels off with loosed wheel bolts.. Result. The discs were then replaced with quality Delphi replacements and handbrake shoes balanced. A big thanks to my friendly neighbourhood Harry. |

Lateral thinking - quite literally!
A well thought out solution. Well done Harry.

You didn't put the wheels back on dry did you ?
Just to make sure you don't have the same issue in a few years |

Of course not. The seizure was due to excessive build up of powder coat, and drum corrosion. New discs and copper slip will make sure this problem never happens again.

Well done Harry , and you got lucky Pab would've been bad if had to be removed at side of road / motorway due to a flat.

If you ever encounter a problem like this again, refit the wheel bolts finger tight, then drive slowly around the block, with a couple of sharp turns of the steering.
Works in 99.9% of cases Brian |

That works a treat on the fronts. I tried the method with slackened bolts first on Harry's long driveway. It was a nightmare Brian.
