Upgrading speakers
Hi all....
I have the standard Kenwood set up in my ZT-T, and was looking for a simple speaker upgrade... Anyone know of any speakers that will just swap with the standard ones? Looking for a bit more bass as I think it sounds a bit tinny.... Cheers Pete

Change your music mate. All that thump thump thump will only cause you brain damage.

Any 6.5" driver will do.
You can re-use the standard brackets (although you may need to drill a few holes in the plastic for the screws). Ideally you want a midbass speaker (i.e. a speaker with no tweeter, like this - http://icedotcomexpress.com/images/RAINBOW-KX165.jpg) |

How about these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pyle-Pro-6-5-C...item35b2cdc7a0
Look ok to me And as a secondary. Would these provide enough overall bass ,or would a boot sub still be needed?

Sorry but Pyle = ****.
I would also take 400w RMS with a massive pinch of salt (i.e never seen a 400w 6.5" driver, in fact i've never seen a 150+w RMS 6.5" driver...) |

Do the mid bass door speakers replace or complement a boot sub?

Complement.
Typically a midbass driver (like the one you've linked, only a good quality one) will specialise in the 150 Hz - 6 kHz range. A sub will mainly be for sub-80 Hz work. Without a sub you'll get more bass from better speakers, but of course the speakers just aren't designed for low frequency use so won't sound that brilliant, and nor is a headunit really ideal for delivering the power (lower frequencies generally require more power). |
