1.8 induction noise
Hello fellow enthusiats
I purchased my 1.8 Connie a year ago with 35k on the clock, it now has 46K. Ever since I have had it I have been aware of induction noise which my mechanic says is just how the car is. I have changed many things including head and associated gaskets and a new exhaust system. Nothing has changed over the year despite full services, inc air filter and the aforementioned head gasket. Also Shannon tube changed and new air box fitted. Sounds like I have a performance air filter fitted. Is this induction noise (similar to exhaust noise but that is eliminated) on acceleration normal, am I over reactiing or is there a fix for it. Any help appreciated. Ah I have googled it and now see where and what it is. This would increase induction noise I assume?

The original 'Shannon' branded induction pipes reduced air noise due to their construction and design. Their current ducts are a bit diffrent from what we had: http://www.shannon.co.uk/Auto/automotive.html
Nowadays, most people fitting a replacement use a neoprene type ducting from eBay. This HowTo will explain: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=36976 TC |

In reality it still isn't much quieter. Could the Cat need changing perhaps? the exhaust from the Cat back is all new and not leaking. It has a low down noise on acceleration. Any suggestions welcome

Should be virtually no induction noise from a 1.8 with standard set up.

Have you checked the state of the air filter?
