Default Locking issues

I have some problems with the locking system on my tourer.

For a long time, the rear nearside door has not unlocked with the central locking - but I lived with it as the door was rarely used, and in any case could be opened from the inside. About 4 months ago, the front nearside also stopped unlocking using the fob.

Now I have just returned from two months away, (battery drained so recharged it) - no doors at all will open using the fob (or the spare fob). The red light flashes on the remotes showing that the signal is being sent, but apparently is not being received (or if its is, it's not being acted on).

I can unlock and lock using the key, but still the two doors on the nearside do not unlock.

Any ideas? Job for an auto-electrician or key specialist??

Try a reset first. Stand next to the car and press the unlock button on the remote four times in quick succession. The remote locking/unlocking could have dropped out of sync due to the battery discharging, you might get the doors that were working back, the other two it sounds like the actuators need replacing.

Thanks, I'll try that, never knew that it could be reset in such a way. Will wait for the rain to stop!

Actuators....can they still be sourced new or will I need to get second hand?

Next step is a battery reset. Disconnect the battery -ve and leave it for 30 minutes. That simple act can cure a lot of electrical gremlins.

Do the doors unlock and lock using the centre console button?
If not can you hear them trying to unlock?
If so then the locks have failed, not an uncommon problem. Locks need to be changed.

Thanks Steve, the taking the -ve off the battery for a minute (not 30 minutes even) has done the trick! Now works with fob, albeit not of course for the two nearside doors that had already stopped unlocking remotely. Will investigate those. But at least the central locking is back to working.

Yes, the (working doors) do operate from the centre console switch and did do when the fob was not working.

Thanks all for your help...

A further issue I have with this car which needs investigating concerns the tailgate.

The button on the wiper blade that it supposed to open the glass tailgate window, does not - it releases the entire tailgate and it also does this when the car is supposedly locked.. I've never been able to open the glass.
