I was saying in NZ view that we weren’t doing well. My view would also be the same, we have had a huge number of deaths.

In terms of unnecessary loss of life from COVID, my opinion is Uk has done badly. NZ decided to prioritise just that, my son now informs me they have now found 4 cases of the delta variant, one is a nurse, they will have to move fast to stand a chance of eradicating this outbreak.

NZ have said they will open their borders in the new year when the population is fully vaccinated. They will allow tourists in who are fully vaccinated from low risk countries. At some point they will have to learn to live with it, much better to do it after people are vaccinated, that way you minimise the deaths. They have succeeded up to now at eliminating the virus. Life has gone on almost normally in NZ. I know which country I would have preferred to be in during the pandemic. I can remember watching the tv in NZ last March or so, seeing BoJo in a room with others, shaking hands and saying to one scientist ‘it’s just another flu isn’t it’. We were already in lockdown and taking it seriously in NZ. I’m sure if the politicians allow it, we will have a fair enquiry that will tell us how many unnecessary deaths we have suffered here in the UK.

Just been reading some COVID related news on NZ web sites. The government modelling suggests between 50-120 people will already be infected with the delta variant. They’ll do well to sort this out, it’s been a vindication of the original decision to go into a nationwide lockdown due to one case. What did our Nigel say about that? I do hope they sort it, it won’t be easy as Australia is finding out.

21 cases now. It’s interesting reading as to how they track and trace.
