Default Work place parking levies............

.........Looks like it's going to get even worse as 10 cash strapped local authorities plan to introduce £1000/year work place parking levies. https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlton...t#6a3c6849b0f1

You've hit the nail on the head, It's time to hit the motorist cash cow again. I was talking to a chap on another forum yesterday & he was saying he wanted to trade his older Kia car in for a Euro Cat 6 as the CAZ (clean air zone) coming to Birmingham next year would effect his daily commute and would be charged £6 a day.

When I was still working, my daily commute was 32 miles each way. 1/2 by car, all morning by public transport!!

All these money grabbing folks all seem to believe that you must all live in the town you work in. Now that is impractical in this day and age.

It will in time become financially impractical to work with all these taxes that are being implemented such as the Pollution tax,Parking at work tax.So in the end you will be paying out more than you earn at work

How can this blanket approach work? I guess there might be exceptions.

Personally I would love to take a clean quick and easy public transport journey to work however practicalities get in the way. I'm a public sector worker working in a city 25 miles away from where I live. I work shifts over the full 24 hours and public transport simply isn't available for the times it is required. 2 out of the 4 different standard shifts I work are possible but would either be 2 buses or a bus and a train with quite a bit of walking at either end. Would add a considerable commuting time.

I'm in Dundee, a LEZ is pencilled in for starting in 2020 although beyond the stated aim of introduction a few years ago nothing appears to being done yet.....

I stopped taking the car into Edinburgh a long time ago, so car unfriendly with extortionate parking charges up to £4.20 per hour depending on location.

Yeah same here. I don't bother with the car if I'm going into town, train or bus depending on which town I'm going to.

Probably be the only option for most looking at the CAZ (clean air zone) chart plans for 2020.
44 councils have applied, Is your town on it? https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...2170265251&z=5

I wonder if the Councils will be charging their employees to park?

Wonder if the local councillors will write themselves an exemption?
