Nearest mechanic I'd recommend is Dunc, Cossie Dunc on here over in Whitburn.

Hi Steve,
I used to use him , but he is not in business for last 4 years! Many thanks for the other 3 garages phone numbers on the T4 locations map. |

Sorry to say I haven't been near him for a while. My mechanic mate here dealt with the day to day stuff but he's semi retired now. I only trusted him and Dunc with the 260

Your battery voltages were perfect.---You changed the starter motor, now unlikely to be that.
RE:--This knocking and starting.---( usually for the starter motor. )--but in your case could be a loose wire or poor electrical contact somewhere.--- The smell of unburnt fuel is the clue.--Sometimes there's a spark and it fires up, other times no.---- Unless your battery is getting quite run down then I'd bet on the poor connection in the wiring. |

Picked up my car yesterday and although the engine turns over about 4 times it is very sluggish, as it seems to stutter then just catches and starts, whereas before all of this problem arose it started first go no problems.
Will take it to 'Cossie dunc' and see what he can find. Thanks everybody for your concerns and replies, good or bad, but it is nice to have the car on the road again. Jim |
