IS there so much deposit from lack of maintanance from previous owner or do i have a bigger problem ? There was no emmisions advisory of the MOT and the car idles nicely and belive it or not the valve actually functions correctly, may be not perfectly but it functions, which i found totally amazing ..any ideas guys ?

It can be opened you just need stupid long fingers or a stick to unlock the hook/latch, mine fell to bits a couple of weeks ago

It's how I open mine now after I'd fitted the mesh grill, just pop the bonnet as normal, push your fingers in between, & push back the hook from the keep.

I find it simple enough to release, it's super easy? Unless you have bags of cement for hands I suppose
