Just caught up with this thread. I think it has identified for me what is wrong with me. Phonophobia. Or whatever it might be. I rage at Microsoft and their continual so-called updates to my computor that alter my settings overnight. There it goes again, the red line treatment accusing me of misspelling computor. The next day, text sizes are minimised. Filing priorities are changed so I can't find anything. We are prisoners here, and of our own device. My phone is, and I hope 'they' read this, for emergencies only and only my emergencies or my family's.

What you want is a Nokia 5510 to stand out from the crowd

The old 3310 3410 and all the others were bomb proof which they need to be with me. I much prefer buttons to a screen of characters.

On a which magazine recommendation I bought a Doro 1370 @ £35 for my father in law. It is not a smartphone but does have bluetooth. Unfortunately it does have SMS and a camera. On standby battery lasts 18 days. |

I am on IOS 12.4.7 iPhone 6 Plus, tracking is on and I am not worried about it The last time Jessica used it to find out where I was in the UK, was when I failed to “check in” and on that occasion I was in an RTA on the A40. The phone showed my location.
I have not upgraded to the latest update, but I am thinking of buying a HUAWEI P40 | 5G for the photography technology and having an alternative to the iPhone |

As mentioned, any modern smart device logs your activity whether you like it or not, so your decision to upgrade to a 6310i is a wise one if your worried. I have a “new” 3310 for work and lasts three weeks on a single charge with daily use!!! You have to remember to lock it otherwise it certainly will phone and text in your pocket! I’ve done it a couple of times with the 3310.
The only problem in this modern society is you need an up to date phone to keep up with everything seeing as literally everything has gone internet or app based. I’ve had to stop using my iPhone 5 which has served me well for the last (almost) 8 years because I can’t access certain important things any more. Even the eBay app stopped working! But that tracking update was also something that went straight off along with location services. I try not to worry too much, there are lots of other ways to collect your personal details and know your general whereabouts...

Hi Phil, I have just (last couple of days) treated myself to a Huawei P30 Pro for much the same reason. The camera is VERY impressive and it means I don't have to lug a camera around on days out etc. I'll still use a proper camera for those important occasions (you know the ones- car shows and the like ), but for all other duties, the P30 more than fits the bill. The P40 is, of course, the latest incarnation and has an even better camera setup, but I went for the P30 Pro as it can now be had for almost half it's original price, and I'm a tight old so & so Cliff

The Covid stuff appearing on iphones & android are just options put in place in readiness for the app. If you dont install the app they do nothing.
