You have two options, jack up the car with the jacking points and put the axle stands under the subframe or suspension or you can use the subframe or suspension to jack up the car and use the jacking points for the axle stands or a combination of both.

What ever you do make sure is on level ground and in gear with the handbrake on when you start lifting. If you need to get the car high do it in two stages.

With some shopping around you should be able to pick up a set of 4 for about £60 delivered.

That was my idea too, a bit more safe and more working space.

Thanks.

Thanks, that is also a good tip, lifting in two stages.

Jacking points to me personally are clear, I am insecure about the exact position for the stands under the subframe. Do you maybe have a picture or drawing where I could put them?

Thanks.

I'm sure someone might disagree with me but I put them right about above that number 8 (not what the 8 is pointing to. I just mean above the number 8 for reference.) This is visible and usable even with the undertray on.

Disclaimer: this is just what I personally have done in the past.

My axle stands are fixed to a sheet of thick marine ply, even if the legs are inclined to spread, they won't. Placed under the the subframe roughly as Azur suggests.

They took the weight of my (small) touring caravan fully loaded with stuff and the 75 Tourer while replacing the HPFPump and hydromount.

+1 for wheels under the car. I also have some offcuts of wooden railway sleeper and they're used variously for chocks and supports as the wood doesn't slip like metal to metal.

sorry, I was not trying to be rude. I only place axle stands under the jacking pads so no pictures.

Yes they will but if you are working under the car you want the car as stable as possible and in my experience the 6 ton stands are a lot more stable because the feet are wider and they are better constructed.
