Default Change rover sign on steering wheel cover mk2

Hi,

Can the Rover sign on a mk2 steering wheel cover be changed? I think it looks a bit cheap and want to upgrade this, but I am not sure if this is safe to do because of the airbaig?

Thanks,

Emiel

Disconnect the battery for 20 mins or remove airbag fuse. You'll be fine then You could also simply fit a MK1 airbag in the correct colour

Marinabrian did this a few years ago, it involves drilling out the rivets on the airbag then replacing when the badge is swapped over (IIRC Brian fitted a Rover 25/45 Badge)

Can't a Mk1 airbag be fitted? A much nicer badge. You can recolour one if needed.

Thanks to you all for responding! So, it would not be wise to just cover the existing badge with some sort of sticker? Do I understand correctly this could cause the airbag not functioning fully in case of emergency?

Just be aware that there are two different systems in our cars. The earlier Temic and later Autoliv, change roughly 2002/3. I have no idea if a Temic airbag would work on your later Autoliv system but MarinaBrian's drilling of the rivets (and presumably swopping the airbag) would suggest incompatibility.

Without changing the cover or the airbag, would it be possible to just put a sticker on the logo or would this disfunction the airbag system to work properly in case of?

Regards,

Emiel
