Default Tow bar wanted - 75 Tourer

I’m looking for a tow bar and electrics for my 75 tourer - although initial research suggests that saloon and tourer use the same item.

I travel fairly widely, from Midlands up to Scotland, so collection shouldn’t be an issue.

Thanks

To answer your question about Saloon and Tourer tow bars being the same item; strictly speaking (and legally) they are different.

However, the main cross member is identical. The difference lies in the number of fixing bolts that are used on the two brackets that are inserted into the N/S and O/S "chassis" rails.

From memory, the Saloon has two per side, whilst the Tourer has three, per side.

Once the car became popular enough, some pattern part makers made these two brackets interchangeable, between the Saloon and Tourer, by providing enough holes for either application.

In practise, with a good electric drill, one could make the required modification, if needed. However, that would be illegal under "construction and use" or some such regulations.

Previously of course, an angle iron could be bolted onto the bumper irons of a Morris Minor, and then hitched up to what ever un-braked trailer you had made, using some rear axle, scrapped because of a noisy diff.

Regards

Mike

It’s a pct tow bar, three fixing holes so specially for the tourer going by the info in the above post. Has twin electric, comes with the bypass relay too and all the fixings obviously. Like new no rust or corrosion anywhere.
Looking for £80

That looks ideal.

I’ll be in Halifax on Friday 6th May. I could pick it up then, if that’s convenient? Although I may well be travelling north before then.
