Default Tourer roof bars

Does anyone have any idea what the roof rails/bars are made of on a Tourer?

TIA.

They're aluminium, not sure what grade probably a 6000 series something like a 6063 but could be a 3000 series

I wonder what they would like polished and lacquered?

I have seen a Saab that had this done, they looked amazing.

Its been done.. I wouldn't bother with lacquer though as if it chips it lets water in and tarnishes the aluminium.

Just a good polish every now and again will be fine.

Do the ends pull out so you can split them into three?? Or is that just the casting ?

Yes they split, not too difficult to separate the parts are held together with a plastic connector which is just a tight fit.
Put one end in a vice and knock the other end with a soft hammer.
I once shortened some to fit a saloon, but looking back I'm not sure what I was thinking...
