what type of puller?
hi all, am trying to remove windscreen wiper arms in order to check lower plenum....but cant get arms off. The nuts were very tight....anyway i see that some folk have used pullers and i wondered what type/design would best suit the job please?
ps ive tried vigorous pulling...tried levering too... |

The wipers don't ned to be removed to access the plenum.

Having got to that stage and establishing that one does not need to remove the wiper arms to examine the plenum chamber, don't forget to ensure that they will remain attached if used.
We don't know until we ask or try something. |

I've always got them off by pushing the hinge down towards the windscreen (to fight the tension of the spring) and just wiggling, pushing and pulling the wiper arms. Never needed a puller...
But as above regarding plenum inspection.

The main problem is that the tapered bush which is pressed down into the wiper arm by the nut, it binds on the hex shaft. With the nut off place a small amount of light oil on the hex shaft. Allow to penetrate.
Put the nut on again but only a few threads (stops the bush dropping into the engine bay when it all come loose ! ). As earlier, relieve the spring pressure and wiggle free. |

wiper arm puller
Machine Mart sell a £12 wiper arm/ battery terminal mini puller which will remove the wiper arms
