5,000,000 75 Replica
Hello to you all.
I thought I'd let you all know I've rescued the 5,000,000th Rover replica VO03WWS. It's still in pretty good shape, but not MOT'd yet. I saw the actual 5,000,00th car in Longbridge, and was blown away by it. I got the lad who works with me to buy this after I saw it advertised, but he didn't have anywhere to keep it, so I took it on. I didn't realise that the car I saw in Longbridge was the 5,000,000th (or had forgot it was), so didn't make the connection, but this is the factory built replica. Interestingly, it's original registration number was MG51ROV, then VO03WWS was applied when MG Direct sold it in 2004. Any information or pics anyone has would be welcomed. Cheers Ian[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

That explains a lot. It was for sale recently, within the last year or so, for about 1500 quid. The seats and interior were odd and I wondered why.
I downloaded some pics, when I find them I'll try and post. I thought at the time it would be nice if I had the space....... |

A replica is something made to look exactly like the real thing.
In this case it’s a 75 made by MG Rover that is an identical copy of the celebratory motor which they kept at the time for their own collection. It seems that they only made 1 other with the exact specification of that car and this is it, which would make it rather special and in need of saving. |

Nice find, best of luck with it.
Did it originally have serpent wheels like the 5 millionth 75? and does it have the same interior? I didn't know they made one identical to the 5 millionth that was sold. Anyone know what happened to the actual 5 millionth one, is that still at longbridge? |

I was slightly confused by this, but after some googling, I now think that I understand.
The 5 millionth Rover car, ever (all models) happened to be a 75. That car was kept, and later they made a replica, which is what this is. Mike

Yes, my car was made a couple of days after the 5,000,000th car, and is identical to the 5,000,000 car which was in the little museum in Longbridge. It has the same interior apart from the walnut handbrake lever.
