Simon,

Thank you for being the voice of sweet reason. You are, of course, absolutely right.

Looking at the options, new brushes would be cheapest but I tried that last year and it now looks as though I have the same problem again, so I think a more long-term solution is called for.

Having said that, Rimmers are quoting £322 for a new fan motor, to which must be added the cost of fitting, making that a very expensive option. I'll take your advice and contact Arctic and Jules to see whether they can suggest a cheaper alternative.

Hi Charles

Thanks for your enquiry
I've sent you a PM

I'm in Colwyn Bay NORTH WALES
Most owners arrive by 11am and are done by 3 pm.
(usually booked a week or 2 in advance otherwise go for the Mail order option)

All info prices etc and links below:

The shop links below may help. Both options in stock & both will outlast
the original motor!

Just depends if you want to stick to original (PGJ) design or aftermarket .
PGJ is quicker to fit and comes with new relay control box but uses your old
blade.
12 month Guarantee.

Kenlowe conversion kit comes with new blades but assumes your control box is working ok.
2 year g/tee (used control boxes stocked also)

All sorted now, thanks to Jules. New fan motor and condenser fitted yesterday, also a new power VIS, all done in one afternoon at a very reasonable price and he even lent us a car so we could go and explore the beautiful North Wales coast while he did it (shame about the weather but you can't have everything!).

Thanks again, Jules!
