Default Text book error grrrr

Yesterday day I had an Hospital appointment to have some lumps and bumps removed. It was only under a local anesthetic but when a got home I was feeling a little sore and was glad to get in and have a nice brew. This morning I jumped into the car ,turned the key and there was nothing. Great I thought " just what I need " After gazing under the bonnet looking for anything obvious I was now resigning myself to call the RAC..I sat back in the car and the penny finally dropped. Yes you guessed it. Last night I forgot to put the gear selector into the park position which inturn inhibited it to not start this morning. This took yours truly the part of 25 minutes to work out. If I had brains I'd be dangerous :-))

Hah - Don't worry, you're not the first with that problem.

Don't think I was some years ago either ;-)

Glad it wasn't the car at fault though, eh?

Walking past Teesside Law Courts I saw a driver(judge or similar I assume) trying to start his Rolls Royce Shadow, he had just given up on it and was getting out of the car. A quick excuse me from me, and moving the gear selector to "P", and a "there you are", led to a quick "thank you" and a swift drive away by the red faced driver. 😀😀

I think most of us with autos have done something similar - but not been brave enough to own up .....

I did a coach trip once, a wedding party to a country hotel. While they were disembarking Imput the coach into neutral, after they had all got off, I went to reverse out of the car park, put the vehicle into reverse and nothing happened, it wouldn't move. After trying various tricks, switching off ignition and master switch, restarting, it still wouldn't move, eventually I tried putting my foot on the brake and selecting reverse, let the handbrake off and it moved ! By which time there were several annoyed car drivers what I had been blocking from entering the car park.
PS my mother has done the same as o p twice, and called the RAC out, IN THE SAME DAY!
