A near do!
I usually park next to the fence. Today, there was already somebody there, so I parked a bit further down.
I'm glad that I did! I wonder if they moved their cars before the wind got up? Mike

Yes. Went out today and wished I had stayed home. Branches off trees, fence panels, and a plastic dustbin up in the air on telephone wires. Was time to get home, before I lost more lives.

There was a big crashing sound outside about lunchtime ........
A bungalow over the road had lost its shed .... the wind picked up the tin shed and threw it over the bungalow and deposited it in the road ..... Glad it was about 4 properties up and my car was in the driveway .... |

It was no better in Cambridge - parked the Tourer outside the brewery where I work and five minutes later a sheet of corrugated iron from the roof of the farm building next to it came loose and thankfully flew in the opposite direction.
I very quickly moved the car to a place of safety I can tell you! When I got home, a couple of our trees had divested themselves of quite a lot of dead wood - exactly into the spot where I usually park the car and I'd gained quite a lot of cardboard packaging that I didn't previously own. Ah well, at least the Rover didn't get scratched. |

It's a real sickener when your car does get damaged though. In 2013 my house roof blew off and landed on my brand new car only done 1400 miles. Thought they would write it off but the insurance company repaired it. Took them six weeks. Frankly I wish they had because it was plagued with electrical issues which started before it was damaged when 3 days old and only done 150 miles.
When I went looking for insurance quotes at renewal as it had gone up do to a no fault claim I was told there was a marker on the database saying the car was subject to an unresolved claim. They looked into it turned out the insurance company hadn't paid their repairer because the bill was to high. Once it was proven it was nothing to do with me I got quotes but I was told it could have restricted me to the original company until sorted. Apparently the body parts had cost more from the manufacturer than the assessor had got prices for off them. The cost to repair it was therefore more than they would have paid out and they would have scrapped it. Just my luck. |
