Default Reconditioned engine supplier

Hi: my wife's 75 has been owned by her since "new" in February 2006. It has full service history and wanted for nothing. It was the only new car I have ever bought and I gave it to her. My car at the time and for the next few years was an eight year old 800 Vitesse Coupe - quite nippy!

It has failed for the secondtime with HGF. It was sorned in early February and my wife now has a very nice Rover 416i with boot and low miles. The 416 is to last her until retirement in August 2018 when she fancies a two year old Mini Cooper or Vauxhall Astra SRi three door.

I thought about scrapping the 75 but the rest of it is is too good throughout. So can anyone recommend a good engine reconditioner who can supply a full engine to which I simply bolt on the ancillaries? Hence, the existing engine being traded in as service exchange.

Also my ZT CDTi was sorned in December 2016 - best car I have ever owned. Done 266,000 miles and problem is a deceased clutch slave cylinder. Been there in 2012 when clutch, dmf etc were changed. I don't fancy it again so does anyone know of someone who can do it at site at reasonable cost? Might like to get it going again perhaps to hit 300,000m. Incidentally I replaced it with another ZT CDTi in identical spec and colour but with 25% of the mileage.

Many thanks
Steve

Your best bet for a clutch job is Andy Willi (you can PM him) - he is an acknowledged clutch maestro on this site - but he has stopped doing mobile work and works now out of Doncaster.

Thanks for this but clutch slave cylinder is terminal. I run the engine up for 30 mins each week and test all the electrics but no drive I'm afraid. Don't you just love inexpensive bits buried deep within the bowels of a car?

I've used these people in the past - supplied a very silky smooth engine for my S-Series Maestro back in the day.

They also supplied the 2.4 Duratec engine that's in the work's van.

And come to think of it, I've had a 1.8 B-Series cylinder head from then as well.

They have a very solid reputation.
