Therein lies a big problem now I believe. 'You don't want to lose it' ?

'So what if I do, I will get another one'

We live in a spoiled disposable selfish society with no patience, consideration nor manners. .............. I think I will just stop it there Lol. (I do include my generation to a certain degree in that statement. Though, I am grateful my grandfather taught me a lot of his 'make do and mend' and ' that will come in useful' attitude.)

Ah, I remember it well including the little indicator arms that popped up when you turned the indicator on and the Ford windscreen wiper that were operated by the inlet manifold. Ya put your foot down on the accelerator and they slowed up, take your foot off and they then go like the clappers. Life was so simple then was it not

Spot on there Riki, my only disagreement would be using AC as it loads the engine thus less fuel economy
You are of course correct that the aircon will cost fuel !. around town aircon off and window down would be the most desirable option.

For those doing motorway speeds the opposite is true. keeping the car as slippery as possible through the air by having the window up.

The worst of the options is window down and aircon on as the car will draw in warm air and the aircon will be permanently trying to bring the temperature back down.

None of the tips alone will turn your car into a fuel sipping eco friendly green machine, even combined you would probably be hard to spot, fill to fill, much difference. but those little savings over a year do mount up.

It never ceases to amaze me that truck manufacturers spend millions making trucks as aerodynamic as possible - and the first thing hauliers do is bolt a set of spotlights across the roof. Then complain to the dealer they are not getting the fuel returns they expected !

I believe that youngsters now days are taught NOT to do that for their driving test. First stand on the brake and then the whole 3rd to 1st story
Yes the current recommended training is "Gears to go- Brakes to slow" - I think its more to do with dumbing down driving. cars today are becoming less of an acquired skill to drive and more "point and shoot"

Car number three in our house is a reasonably priced car (KIA Pro C'eed VR7 ) superb on fuel, totally reliable and pretty nippy, just hasn't got any soul like the Landy or MG

The company I work for spent a small fortune getting custom aero kits to match the height of the trailer to reduce fuel consumption then changed the incentive to achieve the desired mpg to a scheme based on telematics and profitability

Cool! But does it have an electric auxiliary heater? Alison does! And she is also a world first; the first mass produced aluminium bodied car!

She is bundles of fun actually! And looks really cute!

Exactly yours has soul - on a side note had a great evening at the museum a while ago, got picked from the hotel (used to be a stay over for Leyland bosses) in a single decker bus and got an after hours tour of the museum
