Default Who has a record player and a new £5 note

Was going to post it up as I saw it on a news page yesterday.

As I don't have records anymore (apart from a few special ones in frames) I cant test it out. The Polymer acts as a needle.

Anyone up for the challenge?

Here's a youtube clip of what its supposed to sound like but microphoned up.
You need a steady hand though

I wouldn't try it on any of my records. I've always taken care of them & see no reason to stop now.

I have all my singles and Lp's from my teens as well as a record player.

I do need to connect the record player up and play an LP to see if it's THE ONE from my childhood at Christmas.

Strange what people think of doing

The chance of a fiver damaging any record is highly unlikely.
In the glory days of 78's they could be played with a fibre needle made from bamboo, I've even heard of some using thorn bush needles. far kinder than the old steel needles you used in a wind up gramophone.

Well, it works, though not exactly Hi-Fi. So, who can name the tune?

If it's an old valve record player and its not been used for a number of years then don't just plug it in willy nilly. The main smoothing capacitors will need at the very least re-forming and coupling capacitors replaced. Failure could mean a bang or an output transformer failure.
