how difficult is it to get a screen out from a scrap car? Seen on you tube people using fishing line. Having gotten the line between glass and body they just pull the line along.

I'd like to get the front and rear screens out of my donor car before it gets scrapped

Default On the subject...

Are Autoglass (or any of the other vehicle glass suppliers (if there are any)) able to supply side windows?

To be honest if anyone wants my tourer, which has the rain sensing wiper screen and lots of other stuff then I would be happy to talk at about £500 - utterly fed up with little niggly suspension nonsense (you fix one thing and...) and £500 would make the 45 I bought from mss into a decent car - I'll rephrase that, it is a very decent car I can just see how it could be better

If I was paying £500 and could afford it Id just get one from Rimmers. The 1.8 has bled me dry.

I think I have one of those warped screens, after a replacement ~ 12-18 months ago. A subtle vertical ripple heading up towards the right hand edge of the interior mirror. It bugged the hell out of me for about 4 weeks, then my brain re-calibrated and I just don't see it now

Just a quick update on this issue (the issue of my windscreen, that is!) - I got a cal from Autoglass today and they have sourced a replacement which is to be fitted tomorrow.

They can't tell me where it came from so I hope they used the info I gave them to purchase it from Rimmer Brothers, rather than sourcing one of the faulty ones.

I'll find out tomorrow!

A pleasing side-effect of this is that my rain-sensing wipers should start working reliably again: on my current windscreen, I can see that the sensor isn't bonded properly to the glass and they only work when they feel like it. I shall have to buy another DAB aerial though :-(

When I had my screen replaced 15ish months ago by being very careful I got the DAB aerial off & used Q-Bond to put it back on the new one.

Works Fine No issues at all

Regards

Paul
