Absolutely..........before anyone jumps up and down and sends toys out of the pram, I've cleaned this thread up of dawns engine woes.

The removed posts are archived and if dawn wants to carry it on, it can go onto a new thread.......

I've had a second local company tell me they can get a rain sensor screen, so perhaps it's the big companies supply chain that is struggling ?

Thank you.

As for my screen I am drying the car out one last time in the hope it isnt the screen because of money. If it still leaks I will approach some other companies.

Good news! Autoglass came out today and a very pleasant fitter spent two and a half hours very carefully removing the old screen, cleaning everything up and fitting a new Pilkington branded replacement, complete with rain sensor. My wipers work as they should again.

He cleared up a bit of a mystery - the other one hadn't cracked due to a stone chip, rather the previous fitter had fitted it badly and the left hand plastic lug at the bottom of the screen had put a point load on the screen and cracked it. Sadly I don't have any of the service history from previous owners so I don't know who fitted it.

The only things outstanding now are the DAB aerial (which, thanks to another member here shouldn't be to much of a problem to sort) and also I think the fitter disturbed some wiring in the headlining as there's a rattle coming from above the interior light assembly. When I get a moment I'll take it apart and see what's going on.

Thanks everyone for your input and I hope Dawn's car is sorted soon

Im baffled. Yesterday I replaced the paper under the carpet and thought I was imagining that it was wetter than before. Tonight I did the same and I could actually see a tiny trickle. But it hasnt rained here. I just cant fathom it.

Dawn, is it possible it is condensation from the A/C EVAPORATOR - separated drain pipe from the EVAPORATOR box? They can make a lot of water and it will come inside if the pipe is broken or separated (blocked?). There have been recent discussions here about that.

Cheers,
Glenn

I had pondered that, but I haven't even had the AC on today. Just in case, where do I look for the pipe? Under the car, or inside? if its inside and a dash out job I wont be able to do it.
