Parking aid
hi, one and all, my parking aid beeper sounds off as soon as I select
reverse, even when there is nothing behind me, infuriating to say the least. Any ideas as to what the problem is?. Thanking you in anticipation of a cure to the problem. Best regards. Roy. (just a lonely old ma now without my Rosebud) Take good care of your loved ones,. |

The only issue I have had was a faulty sensor. To diagnose this, switch your ignition to position 2 (do not start the car) then select reverse. Put your ear to each sensor and listen for a ticking noise. Ticking means it is working, silence means a fault (before buying a replacement, check the wiring to it) There have been other issues reported throughout the site, but I have had no experience. The diagnosis of the sensors is an easy one to do.

The connections to the individual sensors can lose contact due to corrosion. Remove rear bumper, pull connectors apart, clean and spray with contact cleaner/wd40 and refit. If all else fails, fit a replacement sensor, if that fails, the ebay replacement reversing sensor kits work well.

First thing to do is check and clean the sensor surfaces. If there is any corrosion scrape it off or rub down with a bit of emery.
When I had this problem I rubbed down and resprayed the sensors off the car and that worked a treat. |

Mine gives a single, short beep when I select reverse, the system is working - thought that was how it was supposed to be. No errors.

1 second beep means all OK - a prolonged 5 second beep indicates a fault.

I was suffering with the long 5 sec bleep ever since I bought my tourer. Changed the loom yesterday or day before for a replacement off my donor car and it all works perfectly now. My original loom had a few broken wires and lots of taped up bodged bits.
ps i have a spare loom (off a tourer) that i bought a few months ago if you need to replace yours, no charge just postage.

Hi Roy, I now have a spare parking aid white box (think it's a control unit) that sits behind the drivers side boot liner. PM me if you need it.
