Tourer Rear Bumper
The side of the rear bumper keeps popping out of it's mounting clip.I keep trying to put it back but it won't stay put. Could this be the mounting clip broke or the way I'm doing it? I was wondering if it was a common fault.

Mine does the same (off side). It was like that when I bought it and when I replaced the bumper the new one did the same. I've tried to locate it properly without any success and the advice given was to hold it in the right place with a wood screw. (I haven't).

I'm wondering weather it is the strip of clips that the bumper clips onto or not.

You've just explained something that I found in the scrapper when I took a replacement bumper for my car recently, because I couldn't get the bumper on one side to pull out as you'd expect.
The previous owner had put a self tapping screw through the upper surface of the bumper, into the plastic bracket panel behind it. Took me a while to spot though as it was right up inside the wheel-arch, behind the plastic lining panel. I guess they were having the same issue as you guys. The bumper went back on my car a treat and is correctly located without needing any further means to hold it in place so I assume that the problem was with the white plastic bracket that's on the car. I can recommend adding a screw where it won't be seen - it certainly held the bumper nice and firmly in place! |

There's a screw on either side holding my bumper, once you've removed all the torx screws. I had to remove my bumper recently to fix the reversing sensors but I cant get the screw to tighten (it goes into a plastic plate on either side of boot space) and as a result, one side, like you, keeps popping out. So are these screws original or added, as others have said, to better hold the bumper in place? Could they be replaced with wee bolts to better fix things in place?

The screws located near the corners of where the tailgate are, are original and correct. My car has two different ones - one pretty sturdy one which I assume was used because the original would no longer hold the bumper.
From what I find on my car, I'd suggest that you can select a bigger screw and use that instead! |
