So the A9 is full of average speed cameras by the sounds of it? Thanks for the heads up.

Also appreciate the warnings of the dangers of a long drive like this.

I'm trying to see if we can factor in a stop somewhere but it will be difficult as accomodation is booked already for Saturday night and we can't really leave any earlier than we had planned for Saturday morning.

I quite like long distance driving though so there is that.
I'm hoping staying well hydrated and fed from the drivers seat will stand me in good stead and fingers crossed the traffic isn't too painful.

Been meaning to post an update on this thread since we got back from Scotland but have been super busy with family and work since returning.

We got back very late on Friday 13th, think we got home about 9pm having set off at around 9am from the Cairngorms.

We covered around 2000 miles in 6 days and it was an epic trip. My only regret is we weren't able to spend more time up there as there's so much to see.

In terms of the car, she didn't miss a beat the whole trip - not bad for an old 1.8 K-series Rover 75.

Myself and my partner got out after the long journey there feeling absolutely fine - no aches or pains, just a bit tired from the early start and long day.

If you haven't been to the Scottish Highlands, it is just stunning up there.
Every corner you go around you feel you need to stop to take photos as it's breathtaking. It's an even better holiday destination if you like hiking and walking, which we do.

A couple of motor-related photos as I know we all love photos here and I couldn't resist getting the artsy car shots in, much to my partners disapproval:

Also found a sibling in a little village on the east coast called Brora:

Also, to make a wonderful trip even more special, I finally asked my partner of 12 years to marry me (in the same location that picture 3 was taken, very remote and romantic), and she said yes. So over the moon about that as well.

All in all, a holiday I'll remember for a very long time.

All the hours driving a 75 brings out the romance in you. Congratulations.

Congrats on engagement, visit to the best part of the UK (thats why i live close to the Highlands) but shame that 75s are quite a rare sight up here, except in Brora it seems!!

I have to agree, the 75/ZT is an excellent long distance car. Congratulations on a VERY successful trip. I've been meaning to tour the north of Scotland for several years, - just can't persuade my missus - she loves the sun too much, and got bitten half to death by midges last time we went - about 9 years ago! (West Coast).

Cool

Congratulations on your accepted proposal.

I’ve toured Scotland a few times in my 1.8t, used to drive up from Essex.
Beautiful scenery and friendly people make the trip more enjoyable.

I’m hoping to return up North next year on one of my mini tours of the UK. Again it will be in Banana.
