Default Front brake pipes and hoses

A simple job. Nearside front caliper binding on. "I'll just swap both calipers (for the spares I have ready repaired with new pistons and seals)". Not accounting for the hose to caliper and the nasty unions in the wheelarch which were all seized solid. Sorry to admit I resorted to the cutting disc on the unions and so needed to replace both pipes with Kunifer and both hoses. Backing on pads rusted through so needed replaced too, though plenty of wear left on old ones. Calipers original from 2002, not sure if I can restore them again. Silver lining: both discs in very good condition. And 1.8 engine leaves plenty of room to work.

I need to do similar work but am afraid to touch the bleed screws on the brakes fitted to the car as i have already sheared off 2 bleed screws on a pair of backup calipers that i was also refurbishing. No way that i can see to get the broken parts out either,

Yes i'm having difficulty with the bleed screws on the old calipers I took off the car. I'm going to heat with blowtorch and then use some release oil, interested to hear any other advice.

After dismantling the calipers (which look like the originals unrestored from 2002) I was able to heat up the bleed screws with a blowtorch. After soaking in wd40 overnight they came out easily. Would be difficult not to damage rubbers if you did this on the car. Have restored similar on another car last year they do clean up well.
