Capri
Well done and looks nice motor
4 branch manifold does help the more horses and torque, if it's still got the original ford V/V carb on it? Bin it and treat it to a twin choke Weber as far better on fuel and more reliable and more horses again, great cars to work on, I put a pic on your other post when you were thinking about white one of the Capri gt I have, did have a burgundy or lacquer red 1.6 laser many years ago but I dropped in a 2.1 that I built with high lift cam xr4i pistons etc and use to push 2.8i capris out the way, even had it on knockhill track days. A nice side S decals would be nice on your Capri as looks like someone has already removed the door/wing/quarter strips.

I found this old pic of my young self with my Grandad and my uncle with his 1970 MK1 Capri, as you can see, I was even into Capri's back then. I can remember the day as if it were yesterday.

Nice, very envious.
I had a 3.0 Ghia back in the 80's. Could not afford to run it with its huge appetite for fuel but loved every mile I did in it. Sadly it caught fire outside my house after getting back from shopping on a Saturday after a few years of ownership, luckily our neighbour was a part time fireman and he had it out in a few mins with his garden hose but it was to far gone. I was offered a nice 280 a couple of years ago for a bargain price as the guy needed the cash for his business but I was low on funds myself so some other lucky person had it. |

I've had the Capri four weeks now, and its marvellous to be back in one again, these cars are so easy to work on, great fun. I've been out in it everyday so far, that is more than I drive the ZT or the TF, I feel so guilty.
The wife and I have been out in it a few times, its like we are dating again, we both had red Capri's back in the late 80's and early 90's, so it feels like we are still courting 30 years on. Also, if someone had said to me 30 years ago at the age of 18 that I would be driving my daughters around in a red Capri at the age of nearly 50, I would have laugh and laugh, but! that is exactly what I have been doing. lol I've been cleaning. |

I'm currently getting quotes to have the front wings and bonnet resprayed on mine, the Capri has been resprayed before, but the wings and bonnet have been replaced since then and have been sprayed badly. I may do some of the hard work myself to keep the cost down, as some of the quotes I'm getting are ridiculous. I've had the spectro machine on her today to get a good colour match, we shall see how she turns out once finished. We think her millage is genuine, she is currently on 97k, not clocked as yet, that cant be bad. My wife also had a MK2 Capri, while I had a MK3, we were both dating at the time. We never got a photo of them both together though, cameras were a rarity back then. This is her mK2 below, and to makes this really silly for a missed opportunity, my MK3 was parked out on the road at the time of the photo, all I had to do was park it in sight. lol Last edited by Dallas; 7th March 2020 at 20:11.. |
