Thumbs up Fat Gut SUVs.

To literally illustrate the point. Yes that little car in the middle is one of the largest Rovers. A 2600 SD1 :~

If the form shown by those parking these Monster Truck proportioned means of getting about in my local Supermarket can be relied on, spatial awareness is rarely a strong point by such drivers. Then again, maybe they simply do not care.

How to thicken the Jams ... I'm not talking cooking recipes here. Traffic jams. So buy one of these babies as a rapidly increasing number of road users in the UK appear to be doing.

Unnecessary dangerous , more environmentally damaging than their 'normal road car equivalent, damaging to the road surface, but worst of all is the difficulty the present to other road users when pulling out of junctions. Imagine you want to turn left on a two lane junction and the SUV is wanting to go right. What do you see?

My dad has one, a smallish one currently a captur soon to be mokka he knows exactly how I feel about it Lol it does make it easier for him to get in and out of, but so would a Honda jazz

What a shame then that our cars share so much with Land Rover - the iconic 4x4 and SUV

People who talk spherical objects about SUV's being more damaging to the roads or the environment are talking out their backsides because manufacturing a car is the most damaging aspect of any car and a decent 4x4 lasts for decades.

As a club we do our bit by keeping our cars going.

I do not think it right that some members criticise the vehicle choice of others for reasons of a highly dubious nature.

Trouble with them is they are a necessary evil if you do a lot of heavy towing unless of course you buy a van instead but they've only got three seats. I quite fancied a patrol but to get one in my budget it had to be either a 2.8 where the heads frequently crash, or a 3.0 with the infamous grenade engine.

I ended up with the patrols little brother, the terrano and it's quite a bit smaller than a patrol, but still has 7 seats, tows up to 3t and still goes off road quite well. I've already clocked up over 1000miles towing this year and it's been superb. And, it's better on fuel than the v6 tourer so win win in my eyes! So I disagree with the comment about being unnecessarily damaging to the environment, not to mention it's saved more than one car this year

Don't dismiss the Hyundai Terracan - the bargain tow truck of the decade!

No doubt some would say they are all dying due to 4x4's

After all, Polar Bears were put on the endangered list by the enviro muppets only for them to have to eat humble pie when actual hard scientific research showed that their numbers are increasing!

I considered them but they are only 5 seater and don't have quite as high towing capacity as the terrano (2800kg as opposed to my 3 litre which has 3000kg) and I had to be able to tow a 4x4 on a trailer, and this was the only one that fit the criteria. I did drive a td5 discovery 2 when I did my towing test it was horrible compared!
