Default Suspension clonk when dropping off a speed bump and bit of a service...

Hello chaps,

I'm having a happy Sunday tidying up a couple of little issues with my Diesel Tourer before its MoT later in the week, and also giving it a bit of a service. One little niggle is that I get a clonk on the front suspension, passenger side, when I drop off speed bumps. I can't find anything amiss but wonder if there's an obvious culprit that I should check. The car drives, steers etc very nicely.

Already on the list of things to do is:

1. Oil and Filter change
2. Inspect air filter / pollen filter, replace as required.
3. Check / rod plenum drain (monthly check!)
4. Replace intercooler o-rings
5. Replace fan resistor to cure Aircon pulsing/no slow speed problem
6. Restore headlights using Mequires kit
7. lift front crash bar while bumper is off.
8. Check PAS/Aircon pipe for chafing (where exactly is this common problem area?)
9. General brake service - inspect fronts (which seem to be OK) and probably replace rear pads & discs because there's not a lot of meat left on them. Fluid change is not due yet.
10. Adjust handbrake

Is there anything else that you'd suggest for a 10,000 mile service? I've never bothered cleaning/replacing the PCV valve, but did inspect and disconnect the EGR last year. The car came to me last year with unknown service history and has just tipped over 80k miles.

Cheers all - I'm looking forward to a day fettling the old gal

it would be worth removing the inlet manifold and seeing how clean everything is inside and also check to make sure the area around the MAP sensor isn't clogged up.

Thanks for those replies, gentlemen - I've added inspection of those items to my list.

One other thing - I'm getting a very slight intermittent squeaking sound which varies with roadspeed. Sounds like a slightly binding brake, but goes away if I turn left slightly.

I noticed it today so I'll hopefully find out its source on Sunday. I'm hoping it's not a CV joint....
