Default Rover 75 Tourer picture required

I know this sounds a bit weird so apologies. We have a weird thumping noise suddenly come on today. Seems to be when you turn suddenly. We grounded the car this morning at a country park. I think we may have broken an exhaust fixing and the exhaust is catching the wheel. I would be very grateful if anyone with a tourer (2004) could take a picture of the rear of the nearside wheel showing how close the exhaust is to the wheel. Seems to close to me. I haven't got any ramps to look under.

Thanks. It was a mounting bracket on exhaust gone.

I think it's time for her to go. Belly pan fell off on way home from a show the other week. Burst a brake pipe last Monday. Now this. Such a shame they don't still make them.

Others will disagree but I firmly believe 75's and ZT's are moving quickly into the 'enthusiast' sector rather than a car you drive to work. Everyone seems to have rust (which was pretty much unheard of 3 years ago) and donor vehicles seem to be drying up as fast as scrap yards get a talking to by health & safety.

It is a shame as they are nice cars - but this is 2018 and they are all well over 10 years old.

As an "enthusiast" , can I please ask all "casual" owners to stop repairing their cars and to scrap them ?
…… not that I have any personal interest here , there are just far too many on the road .

They do that, the same way that silencers rot over time. Can be wired up, but even a proper rear silencer cradle is only the price of a tank of fuel. Your fitter will thank you for ordering new mounting rubbers though for a few quid extra, far easier to cut the old ones off and replace.

Notorious fixings that are 15 years old; buy a set for around £20 and have them all changed whilst it's on a ramp getting the exhaust bracket sorted. 10 min job.

Lack of maintenance. Good condition hoses don't just burst. Should have been noted at the last MOT.

It's your car and your choice, but to me these seem pretty trivial reasons to shift a car on... to buy something with a whole set of unknown wear, faults, or PO bodges to replace it?

Local garage who supplied exhaust sorted it- no charge

As for brake pipes they were under belly pan where they burst.
