Hiya, I've just tried to activate the FBH via text message, sending RT.
The heater fires up and runs for about 20 minutes as it should but the blower isn't kicking in at all which it should after the heater has been running for 5 minutes. Am I doing something wrong?
Cheers, Dave

I thought activating the cabin fan, is this is what is meant by blower requires additional wiring.

Activating the FBH does just that, activates the FBH which only heats the engine coolant.....so I understand

To be honest I didn't have the heater on when I turned the ignition off and after thinking about earlier I came to the conclusion that as you say the heater should be in the on position. I will try this tomorrow, Thanks for that Paul.

The guy I bought the car off said it works like the instructions say it should work. I bought it in April so today was the first time I've tried it and as I have said in reply to Paul, it makes sense that the heater controls are left in the on position when the ignition is turned off. We'll see tomorrow, thanks for your input.

could be additional wiring has been done.
That would be a good result

The GSM units have 2 relays, when you send a text relay 1 switches on the FBH. If it is programmed correctly relay 2 will come on after 5 minutes and switch on the ATC in the car but yes the ATC has to be left on when you switch the ignition off on the previous occasion the car was used

Additional wiring back to the ATC is needed and there is a how to on this forum which gives the detail.

One word of warning is that some of the early GSM units sold by the seller who supplied quite a few to members on here were faulty and relay 2 did not work so that is always a possibility to consider, which can be overcome by using a timer relay.

Your text messages to the GSM should be:-

R1on this will start the FBH regardless of the outside temp
R1off will turn it off again

R2on will turn on the ATC unit
R2off Will turn off the ATC unit

ZZ will start the process of first starting the FBH. It will run for 5 minutes then the ATC will be turned on. They will both run for 20 minutes then shut down (to avoid flattening your battery.

ZS will stop the sequence.

REMEMBER, it is important that if you use R1on or R2off for testing purposes, you must turn it back off with the R1off or R2off command or it will stay on indefinately. There is no 20 min timer on these settings.

I just leave my ATC in the auto position and never turn it off anyway.
