Default Diesel cruise control ECU

Is the cruise control unit on a diesel automatic the same one as on a manual?

I have tried looking at Rimmers web site but cant work it out

Don't do it, it's horrendous, I never use mine, all it does is rev it's nuts off at anything other than a downhill slope.

Not sure what you mean by’revs it’s nuts off’? If you set the speed, how can it rev its nuts off? Are you setting the speed to high for the speed you are travelling at. I.E. do you travel along at 30 mph, and then engage the cruise control which is set at 70 mph?

I think because it is an auto it will drop a gear if needed. But if he is having that kind of issue it sounds like he is probably driving a 115 with a duff MAF and is in need of a remap and / or MAF sensor.

I'm not having any issues, I think cruse control is fantastic.

The questions is just because if they are the same, I'd get the ECU as a spare after testing it or even sell on ebay to see if I could cover the costs of the bits I keep

Mine is an auto with the 160 update done by phil-T4. He checked the MAF as well and it is fine.
Driving on a motorway at 60mph, if there is an incline, the revs rise, gearbox has been known to change down, it's as though the car will do all it can to keep the speed to what is set. I hate it. It's fine on a flat road.

That's what cruise is supposed to do in an auto. Mine does it.

that is what cruise is meant to do full stop.
An auto will change down if it needs to, a manual requires driver intervention.
Just goes to show, autos are not always in the right gear as some suggest boooom

Cruise switches off automatically on my manual box below 20 mph.----------
