Default Steering wheel controls to an aftermarket navigation

I have a few problems when I replaced my old Symphony, 25 watt per channel radio by Alpine with an aftermarket navigation system.

Everything works fine, except that my steering wheel controls don't work and the buttons of the unit don't light up when I turn my headlights on.

Here are a few videos of the cables and the wire diagram front the unit.

The cables that are not wired from the grey connector are:
Blue/Orange, Blue/Grey(or brown), Red/White and Yellow/Brown.

The Red cable is connected to the Green/White, the black one is connected to black and the yellow is connected to Brown/light brown wire.

Thank you!

In the grey connector:
Blue/Orange and Blue/Purple in pins 2 & 3 are for the steering wheel controls.
Purple/Yellow in pin 5 is the switched output.
Red/White in pin 6 is for illumination.

If your unit is compatible with steering wheel controls, you may need an adapter lead and a patch lead, such as an Autoleads PC99X-04 adapter lead with a matching patch lead.

That's my unit. I have an application where it let's me edit steering wheel keys, but when I press the buttons nothing happens. I have a BMW e39 decoder that came with the unit, but when I plug in the connector it doesn't do anything, still doesn't show the buttons.

If is not an Alpine unit, you need to find out what needs to be connected to the Blue/Orange and Blue/Purple steering wheel cables, or if an adapter lead and patch lead is needed.

Thank you for your help.
I connected the orange cable to the red/white cable and plugged in the canbus decoder and the button lights work.

At the steering wheel controls, I connected the orange/blue cable to the black one (earth) and the cable "key1" it's connected to the blue/purple cable.

Now everything works fine, thank you so much!

Thanks so much for this post. I had the exact same issue - no button lights and no steering wheel controls on my Android unit. Followed the instructions in this post and all working now.

On a low cost imars 7 inch unit I did exactly the same. Connected orange/blue to the head unit support bracket and blue/purple to key 1
